Toolmaker's Honor: The DNA for Technical Perfection

With a four-year apprenticeship as a toolmaker, I laid the foundation for my professional life. During this time, not only was my affinity for materials science and precision work born, but also a deep understanding of physical laws and technical perfection. This training taught me that in the micrometer range, no compromises are possible – a philosophy that I incorporate into every detail of my FlussPool designs today. Working with high-quality materials has not been a job for me since then, but a calling.

Toolmaker's Honor

This training taught me: In the micrometer range, there are no compromises. It is precisely this attitude that shapes every detail of our designs today – from the choice of materials to the flow physics.

From Pioneer to Expert: The Foundation of My Coaching Philosophy

Professional Sport as a School: Knowledge, intuition, and pushing boundaries – the basis for coaching and systems with purpose.

After my training, I moved to the USA in 1986 – the beginning of a seven-year journey as a triathlon professional around the globe. During this formative time, I was not only able to discover the world but also explore the limits of what is possible in sports.

As a five-time Swiss champion and long-standing pioneer of the national triathlon scene, I achieved my personal best in the Ironman with 8:35 hours. These years were much more than competitions: they were the hard school in which I gained the knowledge and intuition that today form the basis of my work as a tri-coach.

  • 7 Years as a Triathlon Pro (from 1986)
  • 5-time Swiss Champion
  • Ironman PB: 8:35 h

From Professional Sport to Visionary: Entrepreneurship with a System

Building innovations that work – technologically precise, athletically sensible, and healthy in the long term.

After finishing my active career as a triathlon professional, I shifted my focus to bringing innovations to the sports market. In 1995, I founded Roy Hinnen GmbH, followed by tridome GmbH. With the founding of FlussPool GmbH and höhenzelt.ch, I created platforms that combine technological precision with athletic efficiency .

Since 2002, the circle has closed for me: As a coach, I support endurance athletes in achieving their goals not just in the short term, but in maintaining their performance over decades. My coaching approach is deeply rooted in the field of longevity – for me, success means not just a personal best, but a healthy, powerful life.

Experience Innovation: Switzerland's Only Swimming Flume

Training facility, routine, and showroom – where technology becomes tangible.

Since 2016, I have operated Switzerland's unique swimming flume in Horgen, which is much more than just a training facility – it is the heart of my daily routine. Since my own health and lifelong vitality mean a lot to me, daily swimming is an inseparable part of my life.

At the same time, the flume serves as an exclusive showroom for FlussPool, where customers can experience the power and precision of our identical, patented flow technology firsthand. Anyone who has ever swum in this perfect, laminar flow immediately understands why we stand out radically from the standard of ordinary counter-current systems .

The Vision: A River for Your Home

A system that combines training, family, and safety in one natural flow.

Since 2009, I have pursued my vision of the perfect FlussPool with tireless passion. My goal was to create a system that makes it possible to swim at home all year round in a current that flows as naturally and pleasantly as a real river.

But for me, a FlussPool is more than just a piece of training equipment: thanks to the integrated adjustable floor, it becomes a safe living space for the whole family. It offers our children the unique opportunity to come into contact with the wonderful element of water in a playful and completely protected way, while for parents it transforms into a place for meditative relaxation or high-end training .

The Author: Decades of Knowledge for the Tri-Community

As a passionate communicator of knowledge, I have poured my experience from over 30 years of elite sport into book form . Two of the best-selling triathlon books on the Swiss market were written by me: "TRIATHLON TOTAL" and "100% Triathlon".

These works are much more than simple training manuals – they are the essence of my career and my coaching philosophy. In them, I combine sound training science with unconventional approaches and practical tips that have helped thousands of athletes reach their personal best while maintaining the joy of sport in the long term. Today, my books are considered standard works in the scene and reflect my endeavor to make the sport of triathlon accessible to everyone in all its complexity and fascination .
